Beyond the Battleground: The Chronicles of My PUBG Mobile Esports Career
PUBG Mobile:
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is a globally acclaimed gaming phenomenon, wherein participants hailing from diverse nations vie for the prestigious championship title. PUBG Mobile, a free-to-play battle royale game crafted by LightSpeed & Quantum Studio, a subsidiary of Tencent Games, transports players to a distant island via parachute descent, where they engage in intense combat to emerge as the sole survivor. Whether opting for solo play or teaming up in pairs or groups of four, contestants navigate through various game modes. The esports ecosystem of PUBG Mobile is rich and diverse, encompassing club tournaments such as the PMCO alongside national-level competitions like the PMPL, showcasing a plethora of competitive opportunities.
My Esports Career:
I have been playing PUBG since 2019 and my in-game name was "FLEX." I used to play this game for fun, but as soon as I learned about the competitive scenario of this game, I started to jog down more, and eventually, I entered the esports sector of this game. I started my esports career with a very well-known clan "Venom Esports," which was the champion of Bangladesh at that time. I started watching world-class teams like NOVA, RRQ, and BTR who were the champions of the PUBGM World Cups respectively.
Then I created my own team "Venom BeatDrop" where my role was IGL (In-game leader) and started practicing day by day to improve our skills and techniques by playing local tournaments and scrims. We started becoming champions of a lot of local tournaments and we got the confidence to play the PMBC (PUBG Mobile Bangladesh Challenge). The prize pool of this tournament was 20,000 USD. We ended the tournament becoming the semi-finalist among 8000 players. For our good performance, we were sponsored by Venom Esports and we started getting a handsome salary every month.
[The finals of these tournaments are played among 16 teams and they all play against each other at the same time]
Then we played the PUBG Mobile Campus Championship Bangladesh (PMCC) Season 1 and Season 2, and the prize pool was 20,000 USD and 30,000 USD respectively. We ended both tournaments becoming the semi-finalists. For my performance, I got an offer from an esports team "RudeDude Esports" to play in the PUBG Mobile National Championship (PMNC) Season 1. The prize pool of this tournament was 30,000 USD and we placed 8th in that tournament. We got 1000 USD as the prize and it was the first prize that I got from a national tournament.
For the great performance in that tournament, I was offered to play for one of the best-performing teams of Bangladesh "Retaliation X," which was named "Bad Intention X" earlier. I started playing with them as an in-game leader and soon we were registered to play PUBG Mobile Club Open - Asia Fall 2022 and the prize pool of this tournament was 40,000 USD. We had to photoshoot in the studio for the tournament as we were featured on the live in YouTube of PUBGM's official channel. In this tournament, we stood 5th in the whole South Asia. We got 2300 USD as the prize and we were among the top 3 teams of Bangladesh.
We got an invitation for the PUBG Mobile National Championship South Asia to play in the Semi-finals. We played in that tournament and unfortunately ended up becoming the semi-finalist.
However, my PUBGM esports career had a lot of ups and downs, but I managed to bounce back every time. My family was so supportive the whole time as they saw my potential. I have played in 5 National Tournaments and 1 international tournament in my esports career. I have participated in almost a thousand local tournaments throughout my esports career. I am happy with whatever I have achieved in this period. As a teenager, being self sufficient through earning money from something that was my passion, becoming 5th team in the whole South Asia, it feels like a huge achievement to me and my family.
